Unpaid Business Expenses
If you must incur out-of-pocket expenses while performing your job duties, California law requires your employer to reimburse you for those expenses. This includes a reasonable percentage of your cell phone bill for necessary work-related use of your personal cell phone. It can also include work-related use of your home internet, electricity, and physical space if you are required to work from home.
If your employer violates this rule, you can be entitled to actual damages, interest, and attorney's fees and costs.
